History of the Mosin-Nagant Military & target rifles:
The Finnish M/28 above was one of the most accurate rifles, along with the later M/39, produced by the Finns. The largest number of confirmed kills by any military sniper is contributed to Simo Hayha during the Winter War of 1939-40, at 505- using the M28/30 and his Suomi KP/-31.
The Finnish TKIV-85 above is still in use today as a Designated Marksman rifle, marksmanship training and competition rifle by the Finnish Military. These may be built off Mosin-Nagant receivers well over 100 years old!
The Finnish M28/76 above was also used as a military marksmanship training rifle (and Sniper rifle if needed), used in military and later civilian competition as well.
As one would expect, the Russians have been using the Mosin-Nagant as the foundation for competition and sporting/hunting rifles as well. The Soviet Union won the Olympic Biathlon in 1976 using a rifle like that shown above- highly modified and chambered in 6.5 Vostok. As modern target/competition shooters know, the 6.5mm bullets feature exceptional ballistics for long-range shooting.
